Armed Services YMCA

Mission: The Armed Services YMCA enhances the lives of military members and their families in spirit, mind and body through programs relevant to the unique challenges of military life.

The mission is carried out in cooperation with the military. For more than 150 years, the Armed Services YMCA has been making military life easier for our Troops and their Families. Whether they are single, married, Active, Guard or Reserve, it's all about them and providing them a quality of life commensurate with their service to the Nation. Today, in close partnership with senior military leaders, the focus of our low/no-cost programs and services is on the young, Junior Enlisted Troops and Families, as they are the ones most in need

Our support is focused in three areas: healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.

In each area, we have specific objectives:

Our Healthy Living programs:Promote a lifetime of physical activity:

• Focus on preventing obesity and diabetes
• Improve mental health

Our Youth Development programs:

• Support education, academic and social engagement, and promote life-long learning
• Promote moral and spiritual values

Our Social Responsibility effort:

• Provides and supports access to affordable, quality child care to enable and strengthen our families
• Promote moral and spiritual values

Whether providing respite child care for parents in need, summer camps for kids, or assisting with emergency needs, our programs, services, and events are designed to help the family come together, stay together, and have the ability to adjust, bounce back, and thrive wherever the services sends them. The challenges they face as they provide for the safety and security of our nation is immense. We owe it to them to help.
